About The Trumpets

Welcome to our homepage! Let us introduce ourselves. We are the Cornell University Big Red Trumpets. We perform as part of the Big Red Marching Band, the only REAL marching band in the Ivy League. The BRMB, as we will lovingly call it, performs at the Cornell football games. The BRMB is not a scatter band like our Ivy compatriots. Unlike the rest of the Ivy bands who are content just telling jokes and banging on stop signs, we entertain the crowd with music...

Power and Importance

The Trumpet section, as everybody knows, is the most important section in the band. Other sections think they are the best, like the trombones, but they just suck. They say nasty things about us because they have Trumpet envy. It is actually sad when you think about all of the non-Trumpets whose lives will never be complete. When a poor flute sits there tweeting away, it brings a tear to your eye (plus some pain to the ear). The Trumpets are the ones that are heard. We play with feeling and power. And power is everything... Speaking of power, we're led by the most powerful people in the band, the triumvirate consisting of the Section Leader, Mom, and Spinmaster.

Tradition

Most traditional institutions have, well, traditions (and stories too!). The Big Red Trumpet Section is no different. After Thursday night practices, we play football. When we are marching, we sing songs, shout cheers, and spin. We sing "Bring Tha Noize" and our Trumpet Mater, among others. During the Cornell football games, we wear sunglasses and do push-ups everytime our team scores (let's go clock!). Of course, football games aren't the only games at which we perform...

Can't Get Enough

Those Trumpets who just can't get enough Cornell Athletics join the Big Red Pep Band. The pep band performs at lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and HOCKEY!!!
